SMMC - Auxiliary Projects

The Auxiliary's main projects include the operation of The Pill Box, SMMC's gift shop, the annual SMMC Benefit Golf Tournament, and the Tree of Life holiday solicitation, which currently supports SMMC’s defibrillator replacement program.

Annual Project for 2012

In addition to its on-going projects, each year, the Auxiliary selects a special project that benefits SMMC and its patients.

This year the Auxiliary has pledged $40,000 to purchase two neonatal stabilettes for the SMMC Birthing Suite.  The Auxiliary Board of Directors chose this project because they learned that even the healthiest newborns are vulnerable in the critical five minutes following birth.  Body temperature and breathing must be stabilized and weight determined immediately. Stabilettes are sophisticated, portable devices enabling caregivers to perform all these functions and more at the mother’s bedside where she can begin to bond with her baby.

Special project for 2012:
“Always” raffle to benefit the Cardiopulmonary Wellness Center

An anonymous donor has given this beautiful pastel painting “Always” by Louise Frechette, an award-winning local artist with a national following, to the Auxiliary for a fund-raising raffle.  The donor has asked that the proceeds go to the Cardiopulmonary Wellness Center because the Center saved the donor’s life. 

“Always” is 37 inches by 37 inches.  The gold frame was made in Italy and the painting is double matted in raw silk.  The donor has given it a value of $4,800 but, in the past, similar Frechette works have sold for $7,500.
