Public Invited to Open House at New SMMC Walk-In Care in Saco

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- June 11, 2012 -- Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) is hosting an Open House at its new Walk-In Care center on Saturday, June 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. The public is invited to stop by for a tour and some light refreshments.

Located in its PrimeCare Physicians office at 655 Main Street at the corner of Route 1 and Ross Road, the center is open seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m. And with easy access from Route 1 and the Maine Turnpike, Walk-In Care provides residents with the most convenient non-emergency care in York County!

Anyone seeking non-emergency treatment is welcome at Walk-In Care. No appointment is necessary. X-ray and lab services are available on site and the Walk-In Care staff treats health issues like:

• Colds, Sore Throats and Flu
• Strains and Sprains
• Ear, Eye and Sinus Infections
• Cuts and Abrasions

“The opening of our first Walk-In Care center in Saco marks an exciting occasion for SMMC,” stated President and CEO Ed McGeachey. “Being open seven days a week from noon to 8 pm gives surrounding communities access to the most convenient non-emergency care in York County. It’s important for everyone to have a Primary Care Physician and we encourage patients to continue visiting their Primary Care Physician to maintain good health. However, when the doctor isn’t available, SMMC’s Walk-In Care provides another option for care. In addition, SMMC continues to provide emergency care at the hospital campus located at One Medical Center Drive in Biddeford all day, every day,” added McGeachey.
