“Pink on the Links” raises $11,500 for the SMMC Center for Breast Care

“Pink on the Links,” the annual fund-raising tournament sponsored by the Biddeford-Saco Ladies Association of the Biddeford-Saco Country Club, raised $11,500 to support the work of Southern Maine Medical Center’s (SMMC) Center for Breast Care.   In presenting their gift, Laura Blanchette and Ruth Colucci, Co-Presidents, reported that this year the members of the Association decided to “give locally.”   SMMC President & CEO Ed McGeachey responded, “At SMMC, we believe that breast cancer survivorship begins at the time of diagnosis.  This very generous gift will help us provide even more special services for our breast cancer survivors here in York County. I hope others will follow your example and support programs that benefit their neighbors in York County.”

One hundred thirty women played in the tournament held on July 20th at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club.  Many local businesses and individuals helped make the tournament a success including major sponsors:  Stephen and Corleen Garland, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, Northeast Delta Dental, and Pape Automotive.  Dunkin Donuts of Biddeford provided breakfast and water was donated by Poland Spring Bottling Co.
