Exercise, group and one-on-one education with ongoing support. Our pulmonary rehabilitation exercise and education program is designed to improve and maintain your overall fitness and help you live a more active life. Your SMMC team will design a program that helps you increase physical fitness and develop an understanding of your oxygen needs at rest and while active. Creating an understanding of chronic lung disease management is a key component of this program. By improving your strength through exercise, everyday activities become a little easier to do. Exercise will also help you to become less short of breath. When you are not as short of breath, your quality of life improves. Individuals who have taken advantage of our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program are living with a variety of conditions, including:
Knowledge is power. The more you learn about your disease the more active role you can take in your own care. Small group sessions allow people to share experiences and learn in a comfortable and caring setting. Our Better Breathers Club offers a continuation of the program through ongoing monthly support group meetings.
