If you visit the SMMC Chapel, you will find a “guest book” where patients and their families write messages of gratitude, hope, and prayer. The simple heartfelt messages speak volumes about SMMC’s patients, their struggles with pain, ill-health and the possibility of death, their delight in the birth of precious children and grandchildren and their gratitude for the care they received here. Their messages are extemporaneous, unsolicited endorsements of SMMC and the quality of its caregivers who couple their clinical expertise with patience, understanding, and compassion.
Most of the time, when we come to work, we don’t even think about the outstanding life-saving, life-renewing work done here that each of us, whether we are on the front lines of care or work behind the scenes, promotes. Once a year, we have an opportunity to express our pride in SMMC, in our work that touches countless lives, and in SMMC’s mission. Once a year, we are invited to “give back” through a gift or pledge to the Employee Annual Appeal to help SMMC maintain the margin of excellence that our patients and their families expect and deserve.
We encourage you to read about our priority projects for 2012/13 focusing on providing extra services to our cancer patients and then use the employee gift form to make your contribution. Know that every gift of every size is gratefully received.
