Priority Projects 2012/13

Join us in supporting the SMMC Employee Annual Appeal. It’s a wonderful opportunity to express your pride in SMMC and to “give back” to help SMMC maintain the margin of excellence our patients expect and deserve.

“Walk Away from Cancer”, our pilot program, was funded with a $5,000 grant from the Maine Cancer Foundation (MCF).  This six-week program provides those diagnosed recently or currently in treatment with help creating an exercise program and developing better nutrition and emotional strength.  Our MCF grant underwrote two summer sessions.  We  want to offer the program on a year-round basis.

Cancer Support Groups
Three hundred and thirty SMMC patients were diagnosed with cancer in 2011.  Currently, SMMC provides a support group designed specifically for our 78 breast cancer patients.   We would like to launch special support groups for those suffering from lung, bladder, colon and prostate cancer, the other most prevalent cancers diagnosed here.

Your gift for our priority project will help SMMC offer all our cancer patients  more tools to win the fight of their lives.  Alternatively, as in past years, you may designate your gift to other SMMC programs or allow it to be used where the need is greatest.

Please complete and return the employee gift form to make your gift through payroll deductions.   You may also make a gift by check or credit card.   New donors and donors who increase their gifts will be eligible to win a $250 gift card to a local store of their choice.  This drawing will be held on December 14, 2012.
