Practice Safe Skin - Screenings
Tuesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 8; Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall Street, Portland
Wednesday, May 14; Southern Maine Medical Diagnostic and Therapy Center, 13 Industrial Park Road, Saco
You should attend this screening if you are over 60 and you do not have a regular dermatologist. This screening is a must if you have freckles, sunburn easily, or have a family history of skin cancer. Get a thorough visual exam from a qualified health professional along with useful prevention tips. Appointments will be made between 6:00 and 9:00pm. Space is limited. Patients who have never been screened by a dermatologist will be given priority. Please call 885-8536 to schedule your appointment.
Macrobiotic Cooking Classes

SMMC Infection Control physician Thomas Courtney, MD, will present an overview on MRSA, the bacterial infection that has made headlines around the country. Should you be concerned? Learn the facts and how you can protect your family.
All presentations take place in the classrooms at Southern Maine Medical Center with a light dinner served for $5. Pre-registration is required by calling 283-7272. Seats are limited and although they will take registrations up to the day of the event, SMMC recommends calling early.

Lunch and Learn - Preventing or Managing Diabetes
Wednesday, April 30; 1130am - 1pm; 72 Main Street, Kennebunk, ME.
Free. This session is specifically designed for persons 65 and older, and their guests. The speaker will be the renowned diabetes specialist, Dr. Stephan Babirak, of the Maine Center for Diabetes in Scarborough. Any senior who is concerned about diabetes, is pre-diabetic, or has been diagnosed with diabetes is invited to attend. Risk factors for diabetes, preventing the onset of diabetes, and managing and living well with diabetes will be discussed. Space is limited, and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funding for this program is provided by the Huntington Common Charitable Fund for Seniors of the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation.

Cholesterol Screenings
2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month; 8am - 1pm; 72 Main Street, Kennebunk, ME.
Cost: $15. Our Registered Nurse will check your cholesterol and blood pressure and counsel you about risk factors for heart disease and stroke. The nurse will review the American Heart Association guidelines and help you understand how your screening results "measure up."
